An atmospheric tribute to "Where Winds Meet," the beautiful open-world RPG set in ancient China. I was captivated by the game's elegant art style and wanted to create a character study that captures its essence.

The game's blend of martial arts, historical setting, and breathtaking landscapes inspired me to create this piece showcasing both character portraits and action poses. I hope it conveys the graceful yet powerful martial arts movements that make this game so visually stunning.

About the Artwork

This piece is a collection of character studies from the game "Where Winds Meet." I wanted to showcase different aspects of the character design - from detailed facial features to dynamic action poses that highlight the game's martial arts combat.

I used a traditional ink-inspired style to honor the game's Chinese setting and aesthetic. The composition combines multiple studies into a cohesive piece that represents both the character's appearance and movement. Traditional Chinese landscapes in the background hint at the game's beautiful open world.

How I Created This Artwork

Step 1: Research and References

I began by playing "Where Winds Meet" and taking screenshots of characters from different angles. I also studied traditional Chinese ink paintings to understand the artistic style I wanted to emulate.

Step 2: Composition Planning

I decided on a multi-panel layout that would allow me to showcase different aspects of the character - facial details, action poses, and environmental elements.

Step 3: Linework

Using a digital brush that mimics traditional ink, I created the main lines focusing on flowing, dynamic strokes that capture movement.

Step 4: Detailing

I added details to the face, clothing, and weapons, paying special attention to elements that are iconic to the game's character design.

Step 5: Shading and Texture

I applied light watercolor-style shading to add depth while maintaining the ink painting aesthetic, using a limited color palette.

Step 6: Final Touches

I added subtle background elements and adjusted the overall balance to create a harmonious composition that honors both the game and traditional Chinese artistic styles.
